Austurbrú is offering guidance and support with tax returns for residents of foreign origin in East Iceland in early March. The aim is to make it easier for people to navigate the system, understand their rights, and reduce the uncertainty that can accompany the tax filing process.
A tax specialist will be on site to provide guidance and answer questions. The assistance focuses on supporting participants through the process – not completing the entire tax return on their behalf – and emphasis will be placed on creating a safe space for questions and open discussion.
The events are part of the project “This Is Our Community”, which seeks to strengthen participation and inclusion of residents of foreign origin in East Iceland. The project is based on the findings of focus groups, where participants clearly identified access to information and understanding of rights as key factors in feeling like full members of the community.
Initiatives of this kind align closely with the priorities of the Regional Development Plan for East Iceland, which emphasizes inclusive communities, strong human capital development, and active participation of residents. They also support the objectives of the East Iceland Regional Spatial Plan, which highlights sustainable and inclusive communities where all residents have real access to information, rights, and opportunities.
